Let’s Talk About…Breast Cancer and Menopause

Have you been told estrogen isn’t an option for you?

The conversation may be more nuanced than you’ve been led to believe.

Let’s Talk About… Breast Cancer & Menopause

Tuesday, May 19 | 7:00 PM

Pink Moon | Bethesda, MD

For many women, menopause is complicated by a history of breast cancer—or by being told they are at high risk for breast cancer due to factors such as the BRCA gene, family history, dense breasts, or other medical considerations. Others have been told they cannot take systemic estrogen because of clotting disorders or other health conditions.

Too often, the conversation stops there.

But every woman in these situations deserves the opportunity to have an informed, nuanced conversation with her healthcare provider about the risks and benefits of hormone therapy and the full range of available treatment options for menopausal symptoms.

This program is designed for:

  • Women who have had breast cancer

  • Women who have been told they are at high risk for breast cancer (including BRCA or strong family history)

  • Women with clotting disorders or other conditions who have been told systemic estrogen may not be an option

At this event, you’ll hear from Dr. Tobie Beckerman of Beckerman Women’s Health and Dr. Shannon O’Connor of Maryland Oncology & Hematology.

Together, they will share the most current science and clinical perspectives surrounding menopause care in these complex situations — breaking it down in a way that’s clear, practical, and easy to understand.

They’ll discuss both hormonal and non-hormonal approaches to managing symptoms that can affect sleep, mood, cognition, bone health, and overall quality of life.

When we hosted this conversation last fall, attendees walked away feeling informed, validated, and empowered to advocate for themselves in conversations with their healthcare providers.

If you fall into any of these categories—or love someone who does—this evening will give you the knowledge, context, and confidence to better understand your options.

Because every woman deserves more than silence or outdated advice. She deserves information, agency, and a voice in her own care.
